I've lived with Peachfront Conures Aratinga aurea for 30 years. I've bred 'em, trained 'em, even visited Bolivia to observe them in the wild. For more about me, click right here.

10:13 p.m. 2012-08-23 a warning about fabricWhen making fabric toys or cage covers, take care in your choice of fabrics. There have been many reports of parrots, including conures, that have suffered serious injuries as a result of being tangled up in thread. It is sadly all too common for a bird to get a thread caught around its toe or even its foot. Trapped birds have had their circulation cut off, and they have lost toes or feet. Do not make cage covers from fabrics that are loosely woven or that seem to have lots of thready "danglers." Your Peachfronted Conures will thank you for your thoughtfulness.
