how peachfronted conures do the dirty deed
"That's easy," you're thinking. "The male mounts the female and falls off in about three seconds, just like with all the other bird species."
Well, that's one technique. But I've seen them try a different method sometimes. Both birds will stand on the perch, instead of the female squatting and the male mounting. They will turn so that they're tail to tail and then wiggle around so that they're rubbing vents together that way. Every time I see them do it, I think I should get a photograph, but the copulation is just as brief as it is by the standard method, and I never get the opportunity to grab a camera.
