Welcome to the Best Free Peachfronted Conure Information on the Planet

I've lived with Peachfront Conures Aratinga aurea for 30 years. I've bred 'em, trained 'em, even visited Bolivia to observe them in the wild. For more about me, click right here.

the winter merry-go-round

Now that they're 25 & showing a fine signs of age, I've decided not to use the heat lamp system to warm up the peachfronted conure pairs on winter nights. Instead, I just bring them inside to the indoor cages. The main reason is Courtney. This stubborn old bird too often refuses to bask in the heat lamp at night or to share the nest box, thus pulling Dale out to snuggle next to him-- away from the next box. Maybe he's just trying to prove how tough he is. And maybe he just lost his ability to notice hot and cold correctly,as happens sometimes with older people too... either way, I just feel better taking them inside the house on cold nights.

But we've got three beautiful days and nights ahead of us, so I just gave the outdoor flights a good scrub and brought them back outdoors. All four of them leaped into their flights with obvious delight. So sweet...

If my peachfront conure information helps you and you want to support the site, check out your food supplies. If you order from Amazon through my link, it doesn't cost you any more, I never see your personal information, and I get a tiny percentage (around a nickel on a dollar before shipping, I think) as a tip. My peachfronts just love Lafever's Tropical Blend Nutriberries and they also enjoy Zupreem's Fruit Blend for COnures as long as it is PART of a balanced diet, not the whole diet. If you try to get away with making it the whole diet, they'll start picking out favorite colors & playing evil games with their food... Oh, and pick up some chew toys while you're at it. It's the gift-giving season...
