I've lived with Peachfront Conures Aratinga aurea for 30 years. I've bred 'em, trained 'em, even visited Bolivia to observe them in the wild. For more about me, click right here.

more cold weather
The peachfront conure pairs are back inside for another round of freezing or near-freezing weather. Sheldon and Ronnie are good about getting in their nest box and enjoying the heatlamp, but Courtney and Dale seem to like the fancy perch outside their nestbox a bit too much. They sit out there puffed up together. True, they still have the benefit of the heatlamp but it still worries me. Since I don't have very many tropical plants any more, I'm thinking of upgrading the smallest cage and keeping them in winter housing indoors for the rest of the season. I've already cleared a very nice spot for them in the dining room. They're not getting any younger, but Courtney still loves to pretend he doesn't get cold.
