I've lived with Peachfront Conures Aratinga aurea for 30 years. I've bred 'em, trained 'em, even visited Bolivia to observe them in the wild. For more about me, click right here.

grow up, silly blue jays
I had to look twice the other day. Peachfronted Conure Sheldon was doing a slow, rather half-enthusiastic "feed me" begging posture, and it made me stop and wonder WTH? Now, I'm not sure if an ancient Peachfronted Conure is capable of sarcasm, but the half-hearted, half-energetic begging wing flap sure looked a little sarcastic. The behavior was stimulated by some nearby fledgling Blue Jays who were still begging and crying and flapping, even though their parents have cut the cord.
Did Sheldon himself experience a flashback to his younger days? Or was he just indulging in a bit of mockery of the noisy youngsters?
