I've lived with Peachfront Conures Aratinga aurea for 30 years. I've bred 'em, trained 'em, even visited Bolivia to observe them in the wild. For more about me, click right here.

7:52 a.m. 2012-05-17 the dark heart of the peachfront conureI'm not saying that Peachfront is known for her purple prose but way back in the dawn of time, I used a line in BIRD TALK or maybe AMERICAN CAGE-BIRD MAGAZINE, about chewing parrots: The dark heart of the parrot drives him to destroy what he loves best. Ever since, whenever one of our pets chews up a new $14 Pink Parrot Toy in half a day, we joke around about the dark heart of the parrot. But, truly, the Peachfronts are out-doing themselves this year. Some of these mulberry branch perches haven't lasted two hours. The white pine or white birch dowels from the hardware store are lasting maybe 24 hours. Argh.
