Welcome to the Best Free Peachfronted Conure Information on the Planet

I've lived with Peachfront Conures Aratinga aurea for 30 years. I've bred 'em, trained 'em, even visited Bolivia to observe them in the wild. For more about me, click right here.

be the bigger bird

OK, so my Yellow-Crowned Amazon is one of these spoiled rotten parrots who have an indoor playpen, an indoor vacation cage, and a huge honking outdoor flight cage plus more playpen. He's got it all going on, with a bell to kiss and feed and cuddle in every port.

Still, when I had to remove the Peachfronts from their outdoor flights for some routine maintenance, Cookie was simply aghast that I brought them indoors where they infringed on "his" territory. I had to put up a visual barrier — a civilian might call it a blanket — to stop the Peachfronts from taunting him. Funny how, even though they must know he's there on the other side of the blanket, they settle down fast once they can't see him.

They love to get a rise out of him, though. Every time he breaks down and admits they exist, it validates the Peachfronts and it proves to them that even Cookie himself is a bird. A big bird, OK, but still, he's a bird.
