Welcome to the Best Free Peachfronted Conure Information on the Planet

I've lived with Peachfront Conures Aratinga aurea for 30 years. I've bred 'em, trained 'em, even visited Bolivia to observe them in the wild. For more about me, click right here.

deep sleep

Many of you may already know that, as tropical birds, Peachfronted Conures (and many other tropical species) require around 10-12 hours a night. The closer you are to the equator, the closer you are to having days and nights of being pretty close to equal length. You don't have these long summer days like you do up north. So the Peachfronts seem well-adapted to relatively long nights all year round.

Now, my conures have access to natural sunlight, but they also have roostboxes, and I've noticed that they do love to turn in early. My first Peachfront, who was kept as a single pet for many years, loved to turn in promptly on the dot of eight o'clock in the evening. Just be aware of their love for sleep, and have a safe place where they can snooze undisturbed. If you make a small amount of noise where they can hear it, they may "snore" or "purr" sleepily, just to keep in contact without be-stirring themselves from their roostbox.
